Jat-Jatin is a popular folk dance in the Bihar state of India. It is mostly famous in North Bihar, namely in Mithila and Koshi region, Jat-Jatin is the dance of women and is supposed to be performed on moonlit nights during the monsoons. Grown-up girls and young housewives gather in thed courtyard and accompanied by a drum, dance from midnight to sunrise.Usually it is performed in a couple.

The original theme of the Jat-Jatin dance of Bihar explains the story of the lovers Jat and Jatin who were seperated and living in difficult situations. But now through Jat Jatin many social situations are also discussed like natural calamities, drought and floods.
